Hamstreet
Country Show Weekend 2nd and 3rd June 2012 |

The first Country show was held at Hamstreet in 1995 on Pound Lees, it was truly a village affair. However profit was a mere £200 and Hamstreet District Sports & Leisure Association were worried about bankruptcy at the first attempt!
In 1999, a classic vehicle show was introduced on the Sunday, as the
show went from strength to strength with 16 vehicles attending, the
committee thought they had really cracked it! ….. last years show attracted
480 vehicles !.Since the early days money raised has seen the Pound
Lees drained at a cost of £40,000, a new multi sport games area at a
cost of £64,000 and a field lighting at a cost of £18,000. The field
is being constantly maintained, grass cut, hedges trimmed and pest and
weed controlled.
H.D.S.L has the ultimate goal of building an extension to the existing
changing rooms and to provide a modern up to date sports facility for
all in Hamstreet and surrounding areas. Building permission has been
granted, further funding is now being sought to make this dream reality.
Last years show attracted approximately 8,000 visitors over the 2 days.
The addition of some major attractions including an air show enabled
us to earn in excess of £23,000 profit. Our Sunday (classic) vehicle
show attracted nearly 500 modes of transport. For
